Community Work & Advocacy at VCCRC
Quality cancer care extends beyond the walls of the clinic. Through our Community Outreach & Advocacy Program, we advance equitable access to prevention, early detection, treatment, and survivorship support for all — meeting people where they are.
We collaborate with county health departments, local organizations, and faith-based groups to deliver impactful cancer education, free or subsidized screening camps, and psychosocial support activities — bringing care closer to where people live and work.
- Awareness & Education — awareness days, school & church health talks, and workplace sensitization.
- Screening & Early Detection — breast, cervical, and prostate screening via mobile clinics & outreach.
- Patient Navigation & Support — helping patients and families navigate diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up.
- Advocacy & Partnerships — engaging policy-makers and stakeholders to improve access to diagnostics, treatment, and research in underserved regions.
Expanding Access Across the Region
We are steadily expanding a network of satellite clinics to bridge the gap between hospital-based care and community-level prevention.
VCCRC – Nyamira (Headquarters)
Our main operational hub and research headquarters in Nyamira County. The Centre houses clinical consultation rooms, diagnostic facilities, and the VCCRC Research Unit leading cancer research and clinical trial initiatives.
VCCRC – Bosongo Hospital, Kisii
A collaborative unit within Bosongo Hospital providing outpatient & inpatient oncology consultation, chemotherapy services, screening, research, and patient navigation support for Kisii County and its environs.
VCCRC – South Rift Hospital (Upcoming)
The next phase in our expansion, located in Kericho County — a regional centre of excellence focused on prevention, screening, treatment, research, and community outreach across the South Rift.
All outreach follows Ministry of Health guidance and international standards for health education, data privacy, informed consent, and respectful engagement — with materials adapted to local languages and cultural contexts.
Our commitment remains clear — to expand access, build local capacity, and foster innovation in cancer care and research. Through community partnerships, satellite clinics, and advocacy, VCCRC is redefining the future of equitable oncology care in Kenya.
